The prep decides the finish
Every interior job starts with a free estimate, and a colour consultation is available if the colour is not settled yet. Then the repair list begins: nail holes are filled, and stress cracks and other drywall damage are repaired before any paint is opened.
The walls are then sanded complete, so the patched spots disappear into the surface and the new paint lays down evenly. Caulk gets the same attention. Every joint that is failing or void is caulked again, because a gap left open shows through fresh paint within a season.
This is the part of a repaint nobody photographs, and it is the part that decides how the room looks in a year. Amanda has been painting in and around Edmonton for over 10 years, and she treats the preparation as the job itself.
Two coats, and why the second one is there
Once the surface is sound, top quality interior paint goes on. Then a second coat is applied, and Amanda recommends it for longevity. It is not busywork.
A second coat evens out the colour and builds a film that holds up better to the daily handling a living room, hallway or stair landing gets. For deeper colours like the teals, navies and terracottas in her finished rooms, it is also what gives the wall its full depth.
That goes for homes in Edmonton and in North Vancouver alike. The method does not change with the postal code.
The walk-through and the clean-up
When the painting is done, there is a complete visual inspection of the work. Edges, corners, trim lines and patched areas get looked at in the room's own light, the way you will see them once furniture is back.
Then the area is cleaned up, so you come home to a finished room rather than a job site.
