Organisation-led redesign
Home edit: redesign through organisation
Design and redesign that changes how a room looks and functions, personalized to how your house is used and easy to maintain. Amanda Funk, Edmonton and North Vancouver.
Redesign by organising what is already there
Home Edit is how The Painter Lady describes it: "We design / redesign to change the way something looks or functions through the use of organization." The first move is looking at what you own and where it lives.
Amanda Funk brings the same eye she uses on a wall of colour to a shelf, a mantel or a built-in. A room can feel unfinished simply because the things in it have no home, and sorting that out changes how it looks and how it works on the same afternoon.

Solutions that follow how your house is used
Amanda aims for solutions that are effective, personalized and easy to maintain. That starts with how the house actually runs day to day, and the arrangement follows from there rather than from a catalogue picture.
A family in Edmonton and a household in North Vancouver will not need the same answer, even for a similar room. The arrangement is built around your routines and the belongings you love to display, rather than a catalogue layout copied into your living room.
Dark built-in shelves against a whitewashed brick fireplace, for example, ask to be edited with restraint: a few things shown well, the rest put away where you can still find them.
Easy to keep up once Amanda has left
An edit only counts if it survives next week. Each system is kept simple enough that the people living in the house can put things back without a diagram, and so the room does not slide back to where it started.
It pairs naturally with paint. If a shelf wall is going to be edited, it is a good moment to repaint it, and a colour consultation, free with a painting job, can make sure the new palette flows with the room you have just organised.
